If you're a small to medium size business in the offline world, you must place an importance on internet marketing.
If you are on the 5th page of Google, no one will find you and your website is nearly a waste.
Getting found online will get you more visitors, phone calls and business.
People don't use the yellow pages anymore.
They search online for what they're wanting, even if it's a local service.
Internet marketing is all-inclusive! What I mean is it includes getting found through organic searches, pay per clicking advertising, YouTube, Facebook, twitter, and now even Google+.
Social media is exploding and people are turning to Facebook and twitter to find special offers from local businesses, as well as reviews.
Now you even have Pinterest, so keeping up with all of this for your business can be a full time job.
Marketing your business online should be at least 10% of your total revenues.
If you doing any local advertising in magazines or newspapers this is typically a big waste of your money.
People ignore these ads, and most of the time they are not even trackable.
Everything is trackable online! It's great to know whey you spend money on internet marketing, you can immediately see the ROI.
You can tell very quickly if it's working or not, and test out different approaches.
It's the most effective way to market your business and increase your revenues.
I have worked with dozens of local, offline business businesses who have spent up to $30,000 designing their websites only to be on the 10th page of Google, and not ever be found.
This is disheartening, but a reality.
If you're going to do a website, why not go all the way with it and make sure it is found online.
More specifically on the first page of Google, Yahoo and Bing.
As time goes on, it's going to be the local business that stays current with marketing online that wins the business.
You would be wise to hire an online marketing expert to manage all of this for you.
If you factor in the lifetime value of each new customer, the expense of having a person (or company) doing this is nothing.
This is a business expense you cannot afford to ignore.
The internet is here to stay, and making sure you're found when people search goes hand in hand with this.
